Congratulations on your admission to Normandale! We're excited to welcome you to the Normandale community on campus.
After receiving your acceptance letter, you may be wondering what comes next. Here is a new student checklist you can use to make your first semester go smoothly.
Normandale requires course placement in English and math. About one month before course registration opens, complete your course placements. You will receive a link to our course placement process via email using your personal email address. You can also submit a copy of your high school transcript or ACT/SAT scores for review.
Find more information on how course placement is determined here.
About one week before course registration opens and you have completed your course placements in English and math, we will email you an invitation to Introduction to Normandale using your personal email address. Complete the online modules and sign up for orientation to meet with an advisor and register for classes.
After you complete orientation, stop by the Kopp Student Center desk on campus to obtain your Normandale student ID card. You will need a government-issued photo ID and your Normandale student ID number to get your card.
Normandale uses your student email as the primary means of communication. All students should check their Normandale email often!
You will need your StarID and password to access your email. Before you can set up your email, you will need to set up Multi-Factor Authentication.
If you run into trouble, contact the ITS Help Desk for help.
Once you have a copy of your schedule, order your textbooks online through the Normandale Bookstore website.
The Bookstore offers detailed step-by-step instructions on how to place an order. You will receive an email after your order has been placed and another as when it's ready. Books can be shipped to your home for a delivery fee or picked up at Normandale. The Bookstore website has details about both options.
Pay for books with a credit card or add it to your tuition and fees bill through Book Charging. Book Charging provides an interest-free line of credit for books, supplies and technology (up to $600).
It’s not grant money or financial aid. You are still responsible for the cost of the books, but this allows you to "charge" it and wait until the semester has started to pay.
When you register for classes, you are responsible for the tuition and fees. Discuss your payment options or sign up for a payment plan with Student Services. You can view your tuition bill and make payments online through e-Services.
Student Services staff can also help you complete your financial aid or MN Dream Act application, check the status of your application and confirm when funds will be disbursed.
Get ready for online classes by completing these items in advance.
D2L is a place for students and professors to interact online. Log in to your D2L account and watch the training videos to learn how to submit assignments, complete quizzes and more.
There's even a demo course you can explore in advance. Explore the D2L Demonstration Course.
