Learn Beyond the Classroom Borders

Experience a world of educational possibilities, cultures and connection through Academic Travel!

Academic Travel is a core component of the Normandale Community College educational experience, providing safe, sustainable, and equitable opportunities for educational travel. Through these experiences, students develop global competencies, cultural awareness, and the critical 21st-century skills needed to succeed in an interconnected world.

Among other things, students who complete an Academic Travel program:

  • deepen their engagement in other cultures,
  • increase their tolerance for ambiguity,
  • increase their openness to diversity,
  • enrich their sense of belonging in community and in the college.

ACADEMIC TRAVEL PROGRAMS AT NORMANDALE

Students at Normandale can participate in two types of academic travel:

  • Travel Courses: Traditional courses that include a group travel experience as part of the course learning. The travel may be domestic or international, from overnight to up to three weeks. Travel course offerings and locations vary year to year.
  • Semester Study Abroad: Involves taking all courses in a semester or summer through a university partner in an international location.
