Paid Apprenticeship Programs

Jumpstart your career with paid apprenticeship programs offered by Normandale and our employer partners. You’ll earn a salary and complete coursework at the same timeall while honing valuable skills, learning from experts in the field, and gaining the confidence you need to make your mark in a future without limits

What is an apprenticeship training program?

Often described as “earn and learn” opportunities, paid apprenticeship programs prepare you to take on important roles in all kinds of organizations. An apprenticeship training program keeps the employee and learner (that’s you!) in the forefront by connecting you with future-focused careers that align with your passions and support your growth.

But it gets even better: Not only are apprentices offered full-time positions that include salaries and benefits, but their costs associated with attending school—think tuition, fees, books, technology, and more—are covered by the employer.

As an apprentice, you’ll become a full-time employee and student, spending approximately 70 percent of your week working and developing specific job knowledge, and the other 30 percent taking college courses that lead to a degree. With rich learning experiences and classes structured to help you be your very best, you’ll graduate with the skills and capabilities to go as far as your career dreams will take you.

Why should I consider an apprenticeship?

Customized and hands-on, apprenticeships help you earn and learn while pursuing your career dreams—no matter how big they may be. Paid apprenticeship programs also allow you to:

  • Practice your skills in a supportive environment;
  • Immediately apply what you learn in class to your full-time job;
  • Earn a paycheck and, in many cases, benefits;
  • Obtain an associate’s degree from Normandale Community College; and
  • Have costs like tuition, fees, and books covered by your employer.

Once you complete an apprenticeship, you’ll have the chance to transition into an official role at the company. If you’re motivated to make your dreams a reality, an apprenticeship training program at Normandale may be just what you’re looking for.

How does an apprenticeship differ from an internship?

There’s one big difference between an apprenticeship training program and an internship program: apprentices are paid for the work they do, while interns may (or may not) be paid. While both opportunities allow for valuable on-the-job experience, apprentices contribute almost immediately to the company and receive payment for their work. In some cases, apprentices may also receive employment benefits. (Now that’s what we call a win-win!)
